How Do I Receive The Baptism In The Holy Spirit?
You only have to do two things. First, once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior you just have to ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, "Ask, and it shall be given to you" (Luke 11:9).
Second, believe you have in fact received this gift from God. The apostle Paul, writing to the Galatians, said, "Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?" (Galatians 3:2). The answer, obviously, is faith. You have to believe that if you ask, you will receive.
Pray this prayer out loud, and mean it with your whole heart if you sincerely desire to receive the baptism in God's Holy Spirit:
Heavenly Father, I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He has been raised from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. You said in Your Holy Word that You would give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. I'm asking You now to baptize me with the precious Holy Spirit, so that I may be a powerful witness of Your Son Jesus. I receive the Holy Spirit now! I expect to speak in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives me the utterance. I now receive every blessing You have for me in the mighty Name of Jesus! I pray that the Holy Spirit might come upon me. Lord Jesus, fill me now in the Holy Spirit. I receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit right now by faith in Your Word. May the anointing, the glory, and the power of God come upon me and into my life right now. May I be empowered for service from this day forward. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for baptizing me in Your Holy Spirit. Amen."
Now lift your hands, your heart and your voice and begin to praise Him as the Holy Spirit gives you utterance.
Benefits of Receiving the Holy Spirit’s Empowerment Daily
One of the benefits of being baptized in the Holy Spirit is being able to pray in tongues. Remember, you do the speaking and the Holy Spirit gives you the utterance. It is a language you have never learned before; it is the Holy Spirit praying through your spirit. It is a supernatural way of giving praise and thanksgiving to God through your spirit. It is a supernatural way of praying for yourself and others. As you learn to pray, praise and flow in the gift of tongues on a daily basis, the Holy Spirit enables you through this gift to receive many other Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:1-8) (1 Corinthians 12:1-11) (1 Corinthians 12:27-31) (Ephesians 4:7-11). The whole purpose of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is to equip you to be a powerful witness for the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 1:8)! Get ready, you are going to be used in such a powerful way for God's Glory! You may pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit’s Power and Gifts over and over, daily or as you feel the need for a fresh outpouring of power to serve God.
